Network Exchange

The Network of Sacred Heart Schools offers a program of both domestic and international exchange to its students. The Sacred Heart exchange program has existed for over 40 years and has engaged more than 2,500 students from Sacred Heart Schools in Canada and the United States along with a multitude of international students.

From Grand Coteau, to the World!

Our foundress, St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, established the Society of the Sacred Heart in France in the early 1800's with a vision for its internationality.  This commnunity of people of faith in action has grown and expanded across the world, now including 25 schools across North America and 150 schools internationally, all connected with the values of global citizenship, sharing the communion mission to "make known the love of God through the Heart of Jesus."

Reciprocity: about the virtues of becoming an Ambassador

Another significant component of our exchange program is reciprocity.  The consistent flow of visiting Network students in Grand Coteau yield a genuine and effortless global experience for all.  From students, faculty, staff, and parents, everyone enjoys the opportunty to grow in a culuture-rich environment, which as research proves, contributes to building cultural empathy and a borader perspective on life.  Hosting allows our students to view their own country, culture, and lifestyle through the eyes of their exchange student.  Parents, faculty, and participants themselves have recognized the exchange program as a catalyst for better self confidence, more maturity, and developing a greater sense of curiosity.

Not just a Trip!

Faithful to the promise of providing a transformative living and learning environment that nurtures hearts and minds, our students have the exciting opportunity to study abroad or host students in an exchange with other Sacred Heart schools.  This is a meaningful way to experience their Sacred Heart education from a different perspective and discover the local customs and traditions of the community that they are visiting.

The Network offers many opportunities for students to study abroad, wherever they want to go!  I decided to take advantage of this opportunity and experienced life in Brisbane, Australia for one month.  Studying abroad, or even traveling in general, can change your life and form you into the person you were always meant to be.-ASH Exchange Program Alumna
